Friend,
The cuts from the Trump Administration just keep coming. The next agency to be dismantled is the Department of Health and Human Services.
That’s right—the “Make America Healthy Again” crowd is actively cutting funding and jobs from the nation’s health department.
The department has been directed to cut thousands of workers—including researchers who study drug safety, infectious diseases, cancer, HIV, and Alzheimer’s.
I don’t know how dismantling our health services is making our country healthier, but I do know that it will endanger our country's, and our city's, public health.
This means that millions of dollars of funding for New York’s public health initiatives have been rescinded. More than $100 million in grants dedicated to infectious disease prevention and mental health and addiction services have been cancelled. New York City health workers have been laid off—and the City’s entire public health infrastructure will be destabilized.
These cuts are not making New York City healthier, and they aren’t making the United States healthier either.
I am committed to supporting public health workers and programs at every level. My constituents deserve access to lifesaving studies and services—even if the Trump Administration thinks it’s “waste.”
Donate to my re-election campaign today to help me fight these cuts.
