Over the past two months, we’ve seen the Trump Administration take a hatchet to the programs and services working families rely on. Now, they’re coming after the very foundation of American democracy: our elections.
The so-called SAVE Act, is voter suppression, plain and simple. It would restrict voting access for eligible American citizens in a sweeping, unjustified effort to disenfranchise American voters under the false banner of “election security.”
House Republicans failed this week in their attempt to jeopardize voting rights, and I’m grateful the SAVE Act is no closer to becoming law, but this fight isn’t over. As the top Democrat on the Committee on House Administration, I’m standing up for every eligible American’s right to vote—no exceptions.
