Email from Rep Feenstra In this week's roundup: Two of my bills unanimously passed the House of Representatives and meeting with House Majority Leader Steve Scalise.     Dear Friend, In this week's roundup: Two of my bills unanimously passed the House of Representatives and meeting with House Majority Leader Steve Scalise. That and more – remember to follow my Facebook page by clicking here and my Twitter page by clicking here to stay up-to-date throughout the week! TWO BILLS THAT I INTRODUCED UNANIMOUSLY PASSED THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES This week, the U.S. House of Representatives unanimously passed two bills that I introduced to keep partisan politics out of the IRS and hold the IRS accountable to Iowa taxpayers. The first bill — the IRS MATH Act — would require the IRS to clearly communicate tax-filing errors to taxpayers, identify the item that is being changed, and explain why a tax refund is different than expected. The second bill — the National Taxpayer Advocate Enhancement Act — would ensure that the nonpartisan National Taxpayer Advocate can hire her own attorneys to conduct oversight and make sure that taxpayers are being treated fairly. American taxpayers expect and deserve the best customer service and case outcomes when filing their federal taxes. These bills will help achieve those goals. The picture below shows me with two delicious cookie cakes courtesy of House Majority Leader Steve Scalise from Louisiana celebrating these victories for taxpayers! MEETING WITH IOWANS FROM FORT DODGE AND WEBSTER COUNTY I enjoyed meeting with Iowans from Fort Dodge and Webster County on Tuesday morning. We had a productive conversation about the Farm Bill, pro-growth tax policies, my strong support for Pell Grants, and local infrastructure projects. I always appreciate seeing Iowans in Washington! HITTING OUR REPUBLICAN AGENDA OUT OF THE PARK Our House Majority Leader Steve Scalise is a champion for conservative values, American energy independence, tax cuts, and border security. He’s also my fellow teammate on the GOP baseball team. Together, we’re going hit to our Republican agenda out of the park! MAKING PELL GRANTS COMPLETELY TAX-FREE FOR OUR STUDENTS I have long supported Pell Grants because they offer academic opportunities to our students and ensure that Iowans who might otherwise skip higher education because of the cost can pursue advanced studies. These grants are an important investment in the next generation of leaders, farmers, innovators, and entrepreneurs who will support our communities and power our economy forward. However, current law still requires some students to pay taxes on their Pell Grants, reducing the financial support that these grants are intended to provide. That’s why I’m glad to help introduce legislation to make Pell Grants completely tax-free so that our kids can focus on their studies without worrying about the cost. CHATTING WITH THE IOWA DENTAL ASSOCIATION I had a great time chatting with dental students and dentists from the Iowa Dental Association. As I told them, we want to keep these future dentists in Iowa — especially in our rural communities! Thank you to these Iowans for pursuing a career in dental care! WE NEED TO GET A FIVE-YEAR FARM BILL SIGNED INTO LAW I agree 100% with Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins that we must pass a new, five-year Farm Bill ASAP. We need to strengthen crop insurance, increase reference prices for corn and soybeans, open new export markets for agriculture, expand access to high-speed broadband, and keep China away from our farmland. Our farmers and producers need certainty and relief now! Sec. Rollins calls on Congress to pass a farm bill - Brownfield Ag News Photo by Brent Barnett/Brownfield U.S. Ag Secretary Brooke Rollins says farmers and ranchers need a new five-year farm bill in 2025. "It has failed now to get through Congress the last two times under the Biden administration," Rollins said Monday. "This is a very, very big priority of mine." WELCOMING THE IOWA CATTLEMEN'S ASSOCIATION TO CAPITOL HILL On Wednesday, our Legislative Assistant — Heath — met with the Iowa Cattlemen's Association and had a productive conversation on several important issues, including my FRIDGE Act. This legislation would help build refrigeration infrastructure here at home and abroad to support exports of our perishable ag products, like Iowa-raised beef, across the globe I’m working to repeal the death tax on our family farms and pass a strong Farm Bill for our cattle producers! THANK YOU TO AGRICULTURE SECRETARY BROOKE ROLLINS FOR COMING TO IOWA! I thank Secretary Rollins for making the trip to Iowa this week and meeting with our farmers and energy producers. Homegrown Iowa biofuels support the Trump administration’s energy dominance strategy while lowering gas prices for families, strengthening agriculture, and reducing our dependence on foreign energy. I will continue to work with Secretary Rollins and the Trump administration to pass the Farm Bill, secure year-round E-15 nationwide, and open new export markets for our producers. Feenstra Thanks Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins for Coming to Iowa Today, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) issued the following statement thanking U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins for coming to Iowa: "I thank Secretary Rollins for making the trip to Iowa today and meeting with our farmers and energy producers. I thank Secretary Rollins for talking about our ag trade deficit, the Farm Bill, Brazil’s unfair 18% tariff on American ethanol, California's Proposition 12 mandates on our hog farmers, and rural prosperity. OBSERVING NATIONAL VIETNAM WAR VETERANS DAY Last Saturday, we observed National Vietnam War Veterans Day and honored the sacrifice and devotion of those brave Americans who served our country in Vietnam. That morning, our District Director — Emily — also attended the dedication ceremony for the new Marshall County Veterans Memorial in Marshalltown. Thank you to our veterans who so bravely served our country. Because of these incredible Americans, we are the Land of the Free. ICYMI: OBTAINING SIX MEDALS AND ACCOLADES FOR THE FAMILY OF LATE WWII VETERAN EDWARD MOTZ Last week, I was glad to help the family of late WWII veteran Edward Motz obtain the six military medals and accolades that he earned during his service to our country. Ensuring that our veterans are properly recognized for their heroism and patriotism is important to me. World War II veteran posthumously receives medals, accolades from Rep. Feenstra's Office The family of late World War II veteran Edward Motz is getting his medals and accolades that he deserves for his efforts during the war. I'm glad to see the Trump administration championing this important initiative for our rural energy producers. American energy dominance runs through Iowa! KEEPING AM RADIO IN EVERY VEHICLE! I'm very happy to support the AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act. Iowans rely on the radio to get their news, listen to sports, and receive weather updates. We must ensure that all new cars and trucks have AM radio, and this bill does just that! ONE LAST THING: MEETING TIM TEBOW ON CAPITOL HILL! In between votes, I had the chance to meet Tim Tebow — a legendary college football quarterback and NFL athlete. He’s truly a humble, kind, and considerate guy. I appreciate his voice and his work combating human trafficking and child exploitation. MY WEEKLY COLUMN: OPENING NEW EXPORT MARKETS FOR IOWA FARMERS AND PRODUCERS Opening new export markets for Iowa farmers increases demand for our agricultural commodities and puts more money into the pockets of our producers. This is an especially important mission after four years of indifference and inaction under the Biden administration when President Biden failed to negotiate a single new trade agreement that would benefit agriculture. Representing the second largest agricultural-producing congressional district in the country, I’ve proposed and supported legislation to grow our export markets and ensure that our farmers have more destinations to ship their high-quality products worldwide.
