Dear Friends,

During these unprecedented times, it is more important than ever that I build on our strong partnerships to meet the needs of our community.

Frederick County Workforce Services recently partnered with the Maryland Department of Labor, the City of Frederick, and the Frederick County Chamber of Commerce to hold a job fair to help people caught up in the Trump administration’s workforce purges.

I was proud to welcome Governor Wes Moore and Labor Secretary Portia Wu so they could see our partnership firsthand - and hear directly from our neighbors who have been affected by the administration's assault on our federal workforce.

The layoffs and RIFs are arbitrary, cruel, and unfair to people who committed their careers to public service. These actions hit our community disproportionately hard because over 12,000 Frederick County residents work for the federal government.

We’re working to help those who lost jobs and those who are afraid of losing jobs - and we will continue to forge effective partnerships to solve problems and help our residents in these turbulent times.

Sincerely,

Jessica Fitzwater
Frederick County Executive
