Help Earthquake Victims Now --> [link removed]

Hi John,

It’s been a full week now since the destructive 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck Southeast Asia.

You may have seen it on the news, but the death toll has surpassed 3,800. There are still many missing, and survivors are desperately in need of medical care, water, shelter, and food.

I am heartbroken every time I see an update on the news, but I am given hope when I hear from staff and partners in the area who share that ministry is continuing!

The local staff are incredibly servant-minded with remarkable hearts for the gospel. They’re true heroes of the faith, but they need YOU to help provide tangible aid during this incredible time of need.

Unto already has boots on the ground, passing out water filters and other critical aid. Your gift today will immediately be put to use.

The humanitarian aid you help supply will reduce hostility and open doors for spiritual conversations. As one local partner shared, “People are normally suspicious of Christians, thinking we are spies, but they see that we are the only ones helping them. There is more spiritual openness even since the earthquake.”

The water is filthy and contaminated. Grocery stores in the city have collapsed, making it nearly impossible for people to access food. And major bridges have crumbled, making it hard to access an already hard-to-reach area.

Telecommunications and the internet are still down, making rescue efforts more difficult. One local partner shared, “Some of the dead have not been taken out yet, so they are starting to smell.”

People continue to sleep on the streets due to the instability of the remaining buildings – exposed to the elements and mosquitos.

One government leader in the area has urged the international community for help, exclaiming, “The earthquake has supercharged the suffering.”

Relief efforts from neighboring communities have continued to be delayed due to collapsed infrastructure, but also due to militant intervention. This is one of the most heavily persecuted areas in the world – area where the name of Jesus is not often spoken. But in this dark, terrible time of chaos and destruction, victims are comforted through the aid you help provide.

Because of you, suffering people in one of the toughest places on earth can experience the love of Christ.

Please continue to pray for the staff and local partners serving in the area. I know they are incredibly grateful for your prayers and generosity during this time. It blows my mind how mission-minded our staff are. They’re requesting the water filters and the supplies so they can continue ministering to their communities, sharing with them hope that can only be found in Christ.

As one local staff member shared, “In our country there are many problems. We have been hit by disaster after disaster. The earthquake is only the latest. Now the people are looking for peace. We can tell them about peace.”

Your generosity is fueling ministry in a very dark time and place. I greatly appreciate your continued prayers and partnership.

Serving together,
Al Goff, President and CEO | Unto

P.S. It’s not too late to help earthquake victims in Southeast Asia. Your gift today will be used for critical aid — like water filters, food and supplies — to relieve suffering and reveal hope. Please help today!
