Protect the Arctic, tell Secretary Burgum: no more reckless drilling! [[link removed] ]

***********************************************************
Dear Friend,

The Arctic faces severe threats from proposed oil and gas drilling projects. Trump’s Interior Department is rolling out plans to open Alaska’s Arctic to fossil fuel development. These projects risk devastating fragile ecosystems, threatening Indigenous communities, and accelerating the climate crisis. Interior Secretary Burgum needs to hear from people across the country that this region needs more protection, not more drilling.

The Arctic is one of the last truly last wild places in the United States, and we must protect it before it’s auctioned off.

The Arctic is warming four times faster than the global average, impacting wildlife and forcing Native communities across Alaska from their homes. More drilling will only intensify these issues.

The Arctic National Wildlife Refuge is sacred to Indigenous communities and crucial for wildlife habitats. Drilling threatens to irreversibly damage this vital landscape.

The Western Arctic, America's largest expanse of mostly undeveloped public land, must remain protected to preserve its ecological and cultural significance.

Additional drilling does not significantly lower gas prices but adds billions of dollars in cleanup and environmental costs borne by taxpayers.

Tell Secretary Burgum: Sacrificing Arctic lands for limited oil gains is a reckless tradeoff. We need durable protections, not destructive development.

Thank you for taking action,

Laura Esquivel
