Folks, this is big. This week, we had a major victory in the U.S. Senate: My legislation to un-do Trump’s massive taxes on Canadian goods PASSED!

I’ve been fighting hard to push this through because the American people have made it perfectly clear — they want lower prices, not higher ones. They want stability, not chaos. They want economic growth, not the threat of a recession.

These tax hikes from Trump — the largest in history! — would accomplish nothing aside from squeezing Americans’ wallets even tighter.

I’m so glad to have been joined by four Republicans who voted in favor of my legislation, and grateful to have had co-sponsorship from Republican Senator Rand Paul as well.

This was a chance for the GOP to put their constituents and the American people ahead of Trump’s ill-advised trade war and worst impulses. Not all of them took that chance — 48 Republicans still voted to pander to Trump and keep higher taxes — but getting this legislation passed on a bipartisan basis is a real win nonetheless.

What comes next? Well, the House will have to vote, and we know that’s an even tougher hurdle than the Senate. But we have to fight — so I strongly urge my colleagues in the House to do everything they can to see this through.

This was a huge step forward, but we have a long way to go — and we know there will be more challenges to come. I’m not going to stop fighting to lower costs and stabilize our economy. I’ll use every legislative tool at my disposal, and I’ll keep pushing back against this lawless and reckless Administration.

But I can’t do it alone. Will you split a donation of any amount between me and Aaron Rouse to support common-sense leadership? The Senate needs to focus on creating jobs and economic opportunity, not staying mired in partisan bickering. [[link removed]]
