I want to take a moment to address the recent events that have transpired in our country.

First and foremost, I want to state this firmly: I support the peaceful protestors demanding justice for George Floyd and am committed to being part of the solution to dismantle systemic racism in the United States.

George Floyd's murder was not an isolated incident. Racism and white supremacy have been around for centuries and have affected every aspect of our society. It is up to us to take a hard look in the mirror and hold ourselves accountable in order to begin changing for the better.

There are countless ways to be a part of this movement and no effort is too small. I encourage you to confront your own implicit biases, exercise your First Amendment right, use your vote to demand action from elected officials, and push through important conversations with friends, family members, neighbors, and coworkers. This is going to require action from all of us, but I know that we will rise to the occasion and build a better tomorrow.

Additionally, it is important to acknowledge that we are still fighting COVID-19 -- a virus that has disproportionately affected communities of color. If you decide to attend a peaceful protest, please follow CDC guidelines for stopping the spread.
