As Governor of California, I want you to know that we will not stand idly by.
First, California is the tentpole of the U.S. economy. Fourteen percent of the GDP of the United States comes from California. We are the largest manufacturing state. The next largest state is Texas, and we're 41% bigger than Texas.
We have more jobs in forestry, agriculture, and fishing. In so many ways, California is a microcosm of the United States and we feel these impacts in a very profound way.
That is why I have directed my administration to look at new opportunities to expand trade and remind our trading partners around the globe that California remains a stable partner.

The trade war that Donald Trump has launched is going to be felt in pretty profound ways to real people, including those who voted for Donald Trump and are now being betrayed by this very administration.
