A difficult day is almost here. On April 5, we come together to recognize Gold Star Spouses Day — a day to honor the spouses of military members who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

Since World War I, military families have flown flags displaying a blue star for every family member in active service and a gold star for those who died in the line of duty. The gold star has since become a symbol of both profound loss and immense pride, representing the sacrifice, grief and ongoing healing of families of the fallen.

Through your compassion and generosity, the USO can continue the Families of the Fallen program, which has supported every dignified transfer of lives lost at Dover Air Force Base for the past 33 years. We help arrange travel and lodging for families to stay at Dover and witness the return of their loved one, providing around-the-clock support every step of the way.
