π¨π¨ Bad Bill Alert!! -- Protect State Questions and the People's Vote!! π¨π¨
John,
Senator Bullard's SB 1027, a bill to shut down the People's voice is going to be heard in its first House Committee on Monday.
This bill would overhaul the petition process and require 80% of all signatures to place an initiative on the ballot to be gathered from counties other than Oklahoma and Tulsa.
Because Sen. Bullard disagrees with the votes cast by Oklahomans across the state, he went and created a system where the signatures of some Oklahoma voters matter more than others.
I believe that every signature and every vote should count equally.
But this bad bill, designed to silence the majority of Oklahomans who reject Bullard's extremism on a dozen other issues, is going to be heard by the House Elections and Ethics Committee on Monday.

Please take the time to write a short message or leave a brief voicemail urging these members to protect the rights of Oklahomans to petition their government and to treat their voices as equal. Ask them to vote no on HB 1027.

I can tell you that Representative Mickey Dollens, the lone Democrat on the committee, is a fierce advocate for the state's initiative process, he wrote a book on it! So for him to fight for us on Monday, he needs us to make our voices heard now.
If you aren't able to reach out to the Committee, I hope you will consider contributing to our efforts to win ongoing Special Elections right now. We have three special elections for seats at the Legislature as we speak, and your help will be crucial in electing strong Democratic fighters who believe the voters should decide not the political elites. Thank you for your ongoing passion, your defiance, your resilience, and your voice. Let's make it heard today to protect it for tomorrow.
In Solidarity,
Alicia Andrews
