Dear Friends,

This week, Republican's chaotic leadership was on full display as they canceled two full days of voting. Democrats, and nine Republicans, defied Speaker Mike Johnson and blocked his rule that would have prevented new parents in Congress from voting remotely for 12 weeks after giving birth. The Speaker responded by canceling votes for the rest of the week.

Back in the District earlier than expected, I've been working with my team to organize our annual Youth Opportunities Fair this Saturday. I look forward to seeing you there!

Youth Opportunities Fair

On Saturday, I'm hosting one of my favorite in-district events: the Youth Opportunities Fair. All ages are welcome to come and discover new jobs, internships, or volunteer positions. We'll have almost 40 vendors for employment opportunities, including UPS, Walgreens, park districts, Chicago Urban League, Chicago State University, and more.

Register to attend and share the event with your family, friends, and neighbors!

Transgender Day of Visibility

On Monday, I spoke at a rally hosted by the Christopher Street Project in front of the Capitol to celebrate trans joy. It is trans joy that will outshine and persevere in the face of President Trump's hateful actions. On his first day in the Oval Office, President Trump signed an Executive Order trying to erase trans people. But the truth is that trans people have always and will always exist.

You can read more about Democrats' efforts to protect trans rights in the Washington Blade.

President Trump's Trade War

President Trump announced new tariffs on more than 180 countries, including a 20% tariff on the European Union, 24% on Japan, 25% on South Korea, and 46% on Vietnam. Car manufacturers have already responded to his 25% tariff on auto parts by laying off workers and increasing prices on cars.

President Trump has made it clear that he couldn't care less if prices skyrocket. Tariffs are a tax on the American people, and we will be the ones to pay at the check-out counter.
