Fellow activist – have you seen this?
Senator Cory Booker from New Jersey made history with the longest Senate floor speech to protest President Trump's agenda.
For 25 hours and 5 minutes, Sen. Booker talked about the dangerous actions Donald Trump has inflicted on Americans’ safety, financial stability, and the core foundations of our democracy.
His speech broke Senator Strom Thurmond’s speech record of 24 hours and 18 minutes when he spoke against the 1957 Civil Rights Act – and now that record has been broken by the first Black senator from New Jersey.
When we talk about progress, we look at historic moments like Senator Booker’s. His remarkable show of strength proves that in the face of tyranny, we cannot stand down.
As he said when he rose to speak, “I rise tonight because I believe sincerely that our country is in crisis.”
Between Sen. Booker’s courageous act and our recent wins, our team is feeling inspired. Team NPP continues to provide year-round voter engagement and civic education on the issues that matter most to our centered communities. Now more than ever, we are committed to our work.
