The Oregon March for Life is coming up on Saturday, May 17th!

The March is one of our biggest and most important events, and we’ve been hosting it for over 50 years.

Do you know the history of pro-life action in Oregon?

In May of 1969, Oregon became one of the first states in the entire nation to legalize abortion. That’s four years before the U.S. Supreme Court’s infamous Roe v. Wade decision in January of 1973, which made virtually unlimited abortion the “law of the land” until Roe was overturned in 2022.

Oregon Right to Life was founded to push back against the legalization of abortion in our state and restore the right to life for the unborn.

We’ve been around since the beginning, and we aren’t going anywhere!

Every year for more than 50 years, we’ve gathered pro-life Oregonians to make our large, peaceful pro-life presence known.

You may remember that we previously held our March for Life in January to align with the National March for Life in Washington, D.C. That date was selected to mark the anniversary of Roe v. Wade – but over the past few years, with Roe out of the picture and states given the freedom to enact their own pro-life laws, we’ve turned our attention back to Oregon’s history and legal landscape.

Holding the Oregon March for Life in May – the same month that Oregon legalized abortion in 1969 – signals our renewed focus on the responsibility to utilize our resources within our own state, including within the legislature, to restore the right to life for the unborn right here in Oregon.

P.S. Gathering in May also means warmer weather than our previous January event! This makes it easier for people from all over Oregon to travel to Salem to witness to the intrinsic value of human life. I hope to see pro-life advocates representing every part of Oregon at the March this year!
