Hey John, it's Aru, with Sunrise.
In 2022, we helped pass the biggest climate investment in US history, which helped fund countless local climate projects.
We’re talking solar panels, electric wiring, affordable housing, toxic chemical cleanup, and more. These programs don’t just better local communities, they create good paying jobs doing all the hard work necessary to upgrade our infrastructure and avert the climate crisis.
Elon Musk knows all about federal investments and subsidies — his corporations have gotten $38 billion worth. But, now that those investments are flowing into local communities, he wants to shut them down.
It’s hard to think of a more clear example of how the Trump administration is running things: billions of dollars in subsidies go to billionaires, but the moment any money goes to everyday people, it’s time to shut it down.
He’s not even content with preventing FUTURE programs, he’s clawing grants back from projects that are ALREADY UNDERWAY, even using the FBI to threaten the organizations who have received the grants. He’s trying to strangle climate programs before too many people start to see the benefits, and they get too popular to shut down.
But he’s too late. Climate investments are already too popular to die quietly. Even 21 Republican politicians have gone on the record opposing his cuts to clean energy programs.
We fought hard for those investments, and we’re going to keep fighting until our government makes the investments our community truly deserves to move into the next generation of energy, and prevent the worst of the climate crisis.
