What is the solution? Goodness knows we don’t need anymore problems. As I see, hear and feel the palpable tension among my neighbors I am forever looking for a solution and it may be in sight. Tragically the damage done before the cure may be so damning and entrenched that it will take great will for many years just to undo what has been done in a few short weeks.
We know there is a project 2025 which provides a, supposedly, well thought out roadmap for the far-rights future. But it is being implemented by some of the most incompetent people on the planet. I say that out of fact not anger, bitterness or desire to ridicule. They are just a bunch of buffoons and so if they don’t knock us back to the stone age by destroying our economy, causing some horrendous environmental disaster or, heaven forbid, blow us all up we can win this. |

Why do I remain optimistic? Because despite the political ignorance of American citizens the game that the far-right has been playing so successfully in the past is now catching up with them. Their dumbed down drum beat of Democrat doom is showing wear. With an electorate where a third do not vote at all, I would venture a guess that less than 10%, probably far less than 10%, are sufficiently politically aware to make an informed decision that has made the lies of the far-right believable fallacies. It does not stretch our imagination to know how this was possible. If the only context you have is your own life and you live in let’s say Yakima County where the fentanyl incidence are twice the state average and wages are half the state average it is pretty easy to conclude that things are not good and when someone gives you a justification to believe that then it is easy to make that belief your reality. The mistake that the far-right has made is believing that ignorance is the same as stupid; it is not. |

If you have this large group of people whose political belief system was based on ludicrous and contradicting lies shored up by bullying and vilifying marginalized groups and Democrats who are now faced with losing their jobs, family members deported, losing access to their children’s healthcare, rising food and gas prices and, OMG, a war with Canada! This goes beyond a wakeup call - this is a – before your morning coffee bitch slaps both ways. As the reality of the far-right starts hitting home the ignorant become enlightened. Join us Saturday April 5th mobilize The signs of our success are there and they are getting brighter and more frequent. From the floundering of our local politicians like Congressional District 4 Representative Dan Newhouse’s silly attempts to spin MAGA driven legislation which will have catastrophic consequences to his constituents, us, to newly minted and hubris abundant Congressional District 5 Michael Baumgartner going to the media to bad mouth his constituents saying he “does not represent them” to tangible victories such as the Wisconsin Supreme Court win where voter turnout was estimated to be up by 50% and the victories in Florida in Districts 1 and 6 where 47’s 30 point lead last November was whittled away to barely double digits during this last special election. Now is our time to keep the pressure on, continue to exploit the weaknesses and highlight the devastating direct effects on our lives. Make it real! See you April 5th! |

An Economical Economics Lesson by Don Hinman But wait, a lesson that Democrats must learn is to keep it simple. In business, we used to call it the KISS principle: Keep It Simple Stupid. This has little to do with the intellect of the people you are communicating with and more to do with being an effective and successful communicator. Please read this piece by Don Hinman, where he takes what could be a complex issue and makes it accessible to everyone. Don is no slouch, he could have written a textbook, but instead, he chose to be succinct, brief, and use practical examples. We are so proud of our Shirley Grossman Before you check out, click on the excellent resource page our advisory board member Shirley Grossman compiled. It is a comprehensive “go-to” reference for the Spokane area. Nicely done, Shirley. https://www.saveusa.me/ |

As Democrats, we have been given two once in a generation opportunities to win Congressional District 4 since Jay Inslee held the position more than thirty years ago. The first was when I, Doug White, ran in 2022, when Loren Culp made a Democratic victory possible. A similar scenario played out in Congressional District 3, where Democrat Marie Gluesenkamp Perez captured the "not so crazy" vote against Joe Kent and won. She has now proved that she, and we, can hold that seat with a reelection in 2024. The second is looking more and more like 2026. A path to victory is becoming clearer for 2026, and I will write more on this because my vision forward is stronger than ever, and I hope yours is too. |
