“Votes are more powerful than dollars. This election was a battle between Musk Money and democracy, and today’s victory is a testament to the real power of the people.”

— Attorney General Eric Holder, April 1, 2025

Here’s some great news for democracy, folks:

On Tuesday, Judge Susan Crawford — who we’ve endorsed as a Democracy Defender — won a hotly contested race for a seat on the Wisconsin Supreme Court.

Her victory solidifies a pro-democracy majority on the state’s highest court, which will likely rule on critical issues like gerrymandered maps, voting rights, and abortion rights in the years ahead.

This is a massive success for our movement to defend our democracy and ensure fair electoral maps. It’s proof that we can win — and keep winning — despite massive outside spending from Elon Musk’s political machine.

Thank you for everything you’ve done to help power this team to victory — grassroots support is a critical piece of our 10 Year Plan to secure fair maps across the country.

If you’re feeling energized by this win and want to make sure we can keep fighting the next battles for our democracy — with critical elections coming up this year in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Virginia — then please consider a contribution of $30 or more right now in celebration of this week’s victory and power our movement for fair maps in the fights ahead.

The biggest winners on Tuesday were folks in Wisconsin who will get a strong, pro-democracy justice on their state supreme court.

The next-biggest winners were people across the country who care about democracy and will benefit from a state supreme court justice who supports fair representation. Remember, these elections have nationwide ramifications. It was a state supreme court ruling in North Carolina allowing the use of a gerrymandered map that helped Republicans pick up three congressional seats in the state last year — when they only won control of the House of Representatives by three seats.

Speaking of North Carolina:

As Judge Brad Schimel announced to his supporters he called Susan Crawford and conceded the race, there were many boos in the crowd, to which he eventually pushed back and said 'you've gotta accept the results.'

It’s a good reminder for the North Carolina GOP, who continue to deny the results of November’s election after multiple recounts confirmed the victory of Democracy Defender Allison Riggs.

From Wisconsin and North Carolina to Ohio and Florida, the fight for fair maps and fair elections is happening every day at the state level — and we will keep pouring our time and resources into making sure democracy wins.

Rush a donation of $30 or more right now to power our work supporting fair maps in the elections to come >>

Thanks for everything you do. Enjoy this week’s win — and let’s keep working!
