Tell backer J.P. Morgan to keep fossil fuels out of the
irreplaceable Gulf of California.

ACT NOW: Corporations want to turn this irreplaceable marine
sanctuary into a gas station

Fossil fuel giants have a plan to lay waste to the
wildlife-filled Gulf of California to export dirty energy halfway
around the world — and J.P. Morgan is backing this dangerous
project.

Send a message of opposition to J.P. Morgan NOW.

Dear NRDC Activist,

Fossil fuel giants have zeroed in on the
site of their next destructive venture — and it’s a marine
paradise with vaquitas, blue and fin whales, whale sharks,
Leatherback sea turtles, and thousands of other wildlife species.

A dangerous new proposal from
Houston-based energy company Mexico Pacific, backed by J.P.
Morgan and supported by oil and gas giants like Shell,
ConocoPhillips, and ExxonMobil, would turn Mexico’s pristine Gulf
of California into a fossil fuel sacrifice zone to export
climate-destroying liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Texas to
Asia, doing nothing to make the U.S. more energy independent.

We can’t stand by and watch them turn
this irreplaceable marine sanctuary into a gas station — raising
our voices has never been more important than it is right now.
This LNG project is fully in line with the “drill, baby, drill”
agenda of President Trump and his Big Oil allies who helped put
him in office.

But as one of the major allies of this
LNG project, J.P. Morgan has a critical role to play in whether
it moves forward — so we need your help to create an enormous,
international outcry that they can’t ignore.

Urge J.P. Morgan to stop backing Mexico
Pacific’s filthy LNG project and save the Gulf of California’s
breathtaking marine ecosystem from destruction. ( [link removed] )

LNG is fracked “natural gas” that has
been cooled into denser liquid — a very energy intensive process
— to make it easier to ship.

Exporting this dangerous,
climate-destroying energy from the Gulf of California — a World
Heritage Site — threatens the home of more than 800 types of fish
and nearly 40 percent of all marine mammal species on Earth,
including the critically endangered vaquita, the world’s smallest
porpoise, which lives, feeds, and nurses its young here.

The area is also an important breeding
ground for endangered seabird species that already struggle to
find food due to a decades-long overfishing problem.

Add your
voice to keep LNG exports out of this irreplaceable marine
sanctuary. ( [link removed] )

If the LNG project moves forward, the
Gulf of California will face a massive amount of fossil fuel
infrastructure, an endless succession of ocean-going LNG tankers
traversing its waters for decades, and a significant contribution
of climate-busting carbon and methane pollution.

Endangered species will die, countless
other wildlife will be under threat, and one of the world’s most
renowned areas of biodiversity will be transformed forever — all
to generate filthy energy we don’t need and pad the pockets of
the fossil fuel industry.

NRDC is fighting back on multiple fronts.
We’re appealing directly to the companies behind this dangerous
venture and urging them to abandon the project. At the same time,
we’re working to bring global attention to the unspoiled Gulf of
California and its astonishing marine wildlife, and mobilizing
intense grassroots pressure to save this important ecosystem.

We must stop this short-sighted and
destructive plan at all costs.

Tell J.P. Morgan that this majestic World
Heritage Site is no place for dirty LNG. ( [link removed] )

Sincerely,

Sujatha Bergen
