Dear John,

March was a hectic month and I have gone to work every day, whether in California or Washington, to fight for you.

Last month, the GOP passed a dangerous budget reconciliation that includes devastating cuts to programs like Medicaid—or MediCal—to give bigger tax cuts to the rich. I know my constituents don’t want to see cuts to this program that serve millions here in California. I wanted to make your voices heard, so I hosted a Medicaid Day of Action town hall so I could listen to you.

Even though Republicans in the House are running scared from town halls because they know their constituents are angry with them, I know the importance of hearing from my district and listening to their fears and concerns.

I will fight to ensure Medicaid is not destroyed by the GOP.

Also this month I worked to provide relief and get updates about the Eaton and Palisades fire rebuilding process. I toured the damage left by the fires with my fellow California lawmakers and the Army Corps. of Engineers so we can demand disaster aid from our government. 

Because of the damage still left in Altadena and Pasadena, I also introduced legislation, which passed unanimously, in the House to provide tax filing relief for victims of natural disasters. I have seen what it takes to rebuild your life after a disaster, and these victims deserve relief.

In March I attended several rallies and met with local activist groups. I spoke at the International Women’s Day rally in Sierra Madre, a rally to support letter carriers and protect our post office from DOGE, as well as a rally to defend democracy from Elon Musk in front of a Tesla dealership. I also spoke at the Social Justice Committee at Pasadena Jewish Temple and a town hall in support of federal workers. With all of these broad coalitions coming together to fight the Trump Administration, we will win our fight against fascism.

I won’t slow down until we’ve defeated the Trump Administration’s misguided policies, extremism, and bigotry. I’ve been showing up to work every day ready to deliver results for my constituents, no matter who is in charge.
