   John,
Donald Trump is attacking our national parks and monuments.^1
He’s threatening to auction off our public lands for fossil fuel
extraction, and if they get their way, Big Oil will drill, mine, and wreck
   our natural wonders for profit.
It’s the first week of Earth Month, and this year it’s more critical than
ever that we stand up for our planet. We’re stepping up and sending
letters to legislators to make our demands loud and clear: Don’t let Trump
sell off our national landmarks for drilling.

national parks and monuments. It will only take a minute with our

Trump has done this before, John. The last time he was
president, he reduced the boundaries of protected places like Bears Ears
National Monument in Utah, opening them up to drilling, mining, logging,
and more. The climate justice movement successfully fought to reinstate
protections, but now these lands are under threat again.
On his first day back in office, Trump again took aim at our public lands
with his “Unleashing American Energy” executive order. But let’s be clear:
the only thing that oil drilling on our public lands will unleash is
millions more tons of planet-killing pollution.
These lands aren’t just home to endangered wildlife, or where people go to
reconnect with nature. They’re also places of cultural importance to
Indigenous peoples. Indigenous communities should have a say in the
governance and protection of the lands they hold sacred. Instead, the
Trump administration is stripping away hard-won protections and trampling
   Indigenous sovereignty once again.
[ [link removed] ]So John, this Earth Month, let’s reaffirm our collective
fight for climate justice. Send a letter to Congress and demand they
protect our national parks and monuments from being auctioned off for
   drilling.
   In solidarity,
   Katrina Riley, Team 350
