SBA Physical Damage Loans*

The President's major disaster declaration for California, issued January 8, 2025, includes a 60-day Grace Period for filing physical loan applications due to the scale of the disaster.

*Economic Injury Disaster Loans Available*

*Small businesses and most private nonprofit organizations* located in a declared disaster area and which have suffered substantial economic injury may be eligible for a Small Business Administration *Economic Injury Disaster Loan*. *FEMA Individual Assistance*

Survivors who registered prior to the deadline are encouraged to keep in touch with FEMA to continue to update their application as their situation changes and to work through the approval process. For those displaced by the fires, rental assistance is still available. If you were impacted by the fire but were unable to apply for FEMA assistance prior to the deadline due to extenuating circumstances, you may be able to file a late application. If you have additional needs or wish to submit a late application, call the FEMA Helpline at 1-800-621-3362. Lines are open from 4 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Disaster Unemployment Assistance 

Los Angeles County workers, business owners, and self-employed people affected by the wildfires have until *Tuesday, June 10, 2025*, to apply for federal Disaster Unemployment Assistance. Click here for more information [ [link removed] ].

*HUD Extends Foreclosure Relief for Wildfire-Affected Homeowners*

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has extended the foreclosure moratorium for FHA-insured single-family mortgages by an additional 90 days. This extension, now in effect until *July 7, 2025*, gives disaster-affected homeowners more time to focus on recovery without the fear of foreclosure.

Opting In or Opting Out [ [link removed] ]

Right of Entry Forms Must Be Submitted Soon

Impacted LA County residents have until *April 15, 2025* to *submit a Right of Entry form* to opt-in to the government-run debris removal program or opt-out.

The scope of the debris removal program is also *expanding beyond only residential property owners to include condominiums and multi-family buildings that have at least ONE unit that is occupied by the owner.*

Properties that are entirely owned by for-profit entities are not included in this expansion and are considered commercial properties. All other properties that do not fall under the expanded scope will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis under the following criteria:


* An immediate threat to public health and safety due to debris.
* Barriers to the commercial entity completing debris removal independently.
* Insurance coverage and status of claim.
* Economic impact of debris removal on the commercial entity and community.

If you have not opted into the Right of Entry program yet—now is the time. You can still change your mind and have the debris removed at your own expense but consider opting into the program to keep your options open.

*Opting-Out: *If you choose to opt-out of the government debris removal program, you must submit an opt-out form here [ [link removed] ]. Property owners who choose to hire private contractors for fire debris removal can then receive an Eaton and Palisades Fire Debris Removal permit via the County’s EPIC-LA system [ [link removed] ]. This permit allows home and business owners—and their authorized private contractors—to manage their own debris removal efforts while ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal safety and environmental standards. Rebuilding Permit Centers are open for guidance through the rebuilding process for residents affected by the Palisades and Eaton fires. These permit centers connect you with the departments responsible for rebuilding in your area.
