Voting is still open in the Your City, Your Flower initiative, giving San Diegans the chance to replace the city's official flower with a native bloom. The Floral Faceoff is down to the final four contenders, and your vote, closing April 7th, will help decide which two advance to the Corolla Championship!

CLEARING THE CLIFFS

In an extraordinary example of collaboration across city departments, the Environmental Services and Fire-Rescue teams worked together to clear an abandoned encampment in the steep open space between Torrey Pines Gliderport and Torrey Pines Golf Course. Environmental Services Department cleared the iconic open space and Fire-Rescue got valuable training time.

35 YEARS OF IMPACT

The work of the San Diego Housing Federation (SDHF) is critical in tackling our region’s housing crisis, serving as strong advocates, and working for San Diegans to have access to safe, stable, and affordable housing. It was an honor to join community leaders in celebrating the San Diego Housing Federation's 35 years of lasting impact on our city. The work continues in our search for new ways to secure funding and new housing.

BRING ON THE SHADE

Earlier this year, I directed funds to acquire replacement trees for the Solana Highlands School Park. I joined our City Parks and Rec staff, Solana Highlands Elementary students and parents, Solana Beach School District staff, and community members to plant those trees. This joint-use park is an important asset for the school and the neighborhood. The trees will provide a needed buffer and future shade for all to enjoy. 🌳

FOUNDATIONS FOR THE FUTURE

This week, I joined UC San Diego Associated Students for a town hall with students. It was clear that their interests align with those at City Hall as we tackle issues of housing affordability, transportation, sustainability, and job opportunities. They are our future. We need their input today to shape policies and priorities that achieve our mutual goal of a livable city for all.
