NDWA is fighting to protect our communities. We need your help.

John, recently, longtime National Domestic Workers Alliance member Jeanette Vizguerra was ripped from her children, grandchildren, and community and detained by ICE without warning. She now faces deportation to Mexico after contributing to her community in the U.S. for 30 years, where she and her children have set their roots.

It’s just the latest attack intended to spread fear among those speaking out as mass deportations pick up steam, but we WILL NOT allow our families and communities to be terrorized.

NDWA is working overtime to get resources and much needed support to those under threat, distributing vital Know Your Rights information across care worker communities and providing trusted information about legal service providers to those in need.

After Jeanette was detained, NDWA immediately sprang into action, connecting with local partners, raising the alarm in the press, and calling on tens of thousands of people like you to take action.

Right now, this work is more important than ever. And we’re ready to do it over and over again — but we cannot do it alone. We urgently need you! Can you chip in to help fuel our work to support our communities currently under attack?

After she was detained, a federal judge said Jeanette may not be deported or moved out of state until her petition challenging her detention is litigated. This is not enough, what Jeanette deserves is to be home with her family — and NDWA is working closely with groups on the ground to ensure due process is respected.

The heartbreaking thing is that this is only the beginning. Which is why NDWA is quickly scaling up our efforts to help ensure domestic workers and care workers across the country know their rights and feel supported.

The fact is, we know that Know Your Rights campaigns work. We’ve seen example after example of people slowing down deportation efforts by asserting their rights when confronted in their communities. That’s why it’s so important we reach as many communities as possible to ensure they know what their constitutional rights are — at community meetings, on organizing calls, and via SMS and email alerts.

John, your generous contribution will help us reach more care workers to ensure they know and understand their rights. Can you urgently rush a donation to support this work now?

Every day, immigrant caregivers wake up before dawn to care for our aging parents, nurture our children, and support people with disabilities. They cook, clean, and provide essential medical care—often working long hours without healthcare benefits. They are the backbone of our families, communities, and economy.

Thank you for fighting for a better future for them and for all of us,

The NDWA Team

Dignity, Unity, Power

The majority of domestic workers sit at the center of some of our nation’s most decisive issues because of who they are and what they do: they are women – mostly women of color, immigrants, mothers, and low-wage workers. They are impacted by almost every policy affecting the future of our economy, democracy and country.

Domestic workers can lead us toward a new, inclusive vision for the future for all of us -- and your grassroots support is the fuel that can get us there.
