Hello,
There’s a scar on my left arm. It’s not very big. Most people probably would never notice it. But me? I never miss it.
My mom was a single mother when she brought us to the United States for the hope of a better life. She didn’t speak much English, and things were hard financially for us. To make ends meet, I got a job at McDonald’s while I was in high school. But it wasn’t always enough.
I began going to a plasma center to exchange the plasma in my blood for money – as often as they’d let me – to help pay our family’s bills. And after your arm is poked with a needle hundreds of times… Well, it leaves a scar.
It isn’t something I’m embarrassed of. It’s a testament. A testament to the sacrifices my mom made – that every immigrant makes. To the tenacity and the determination that it takes for families like mine just to be able to pay for groceries, gas, and healthcare.
The scar on my arm is a testament to why I’m now running for Congress – because no child in the richest country in the world should have to sell their blood week after week, year after year, just to put food on the table and keep a roof over their heads.
I’m running for Congress here in Colorado in one of the most competitive districts in the entire country. Democrats lost this seat, and control of the House, by fewer than 2,500 votes.
I haven’t just seen firsthand how rising housing and healthcare costs are hurting families – I’ve lived it.
We can flip this seat blue for Democrats and take back the House and the Speaker’s gavel, but I need grassroots donors like you to make a donation now to my campaign if we’re going to fight back against the Republican Super PACs and win.
Please use the links in this email to start a monthly donation through ActBlue:
I’m not taking money from corporate PACs, so no amount you can afford is too small to make a difference.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
