Elon Musk’s so-called “Department of Government Efficiency” — DOGE — has been a disaster.
It’s not saving money. It’s not making government more efficient.
It’s slashing funding for cancer research. It’s laying off air traffic controllers. It’s gutting the VA and taking down critical government websites for no reason. Not to mention shuttering USAID — putting our national security at risk! — and initiating mass layoffs at HHS.
And through it all, Elon Musk’s companies keep raking in billions in federal contracts, profiting off the very government he’s trying to tear down.
Enough.
I just introduced the Delete DOGE Act to shut it down — and stop Elon Musk from gutting government services millions of people rely on while his companies cash in.
The disasters of DOGE keep getting worse. It “accidentally” eliminated funding for Ebola and bird flu prevention. It laid off the workers who answer the VA’s suicide crisis line. It fired nuclear bomb specialists — only for the Department of Energy to have to rehire them (and provide back-pay for the time they weren’t working, too).
This is not how a functioning government operates — and even though we’re in the minority, Democrats can’t just stand by and watch this chaos unfold.
I’m proud to have introduced the Delete DOGE Act, and I hope you’ll help me build strong public momentum behind the bill by adding your name to support it today. [[link removed]]
My bill would:
* Prohibit any federal funds from being used to implement, administer, or enforce the executive orders establishing DOGE.
* Rescind unobligated funds currently available to DOGE and its associated entities.
* Restrict future expenditures or transfers of federal funds for DOGE-related projects or personnel.
Let me be clear: I’m not saying there are no improvements or efficiencies to be made in the federal government — far from it. I’m fully supportive of thoughtful and purposeful audits and reform of government agencies and efforts. But what DOGE is doing isn’t reform — it’s sabotage.
As elected leaders, members of Congress owe it to the American people to take action against the recklessness and danger DOGE is spreading. I hope my GOP colleagues will find the courage to publicly stand up to Elon Musk (they certainly don’t have good things to say about him in private) and help us restore stability, accountability, and public trust in government.
If you agree that this is a critical priority, add your name to support the Delete DOGE Act, and help me push for its consideration in the House. [[link removed]]
Thank you,
Sara
