Senator Cory Booker’s record-breaking speech this week?

[ [link removed] ]AP: Cory Booker sets a record with marathon Senate speech. Will it
rally anti-Trump resistance?

He held the Senate floor for over 25 hours in protest of Donald Trump
dismantling the federal government. And, he broke the record for the
longest Senate floor speech ever, beating out Strom Thurmond’s
pro-segregation filibuster of the Civil Rights Act.

As Sen. Booker said during his speech, “I’m here because as powerful as
[Sen. Thurmond] was, the people are more powerful.”

This is what fighting back looks like—using whatever power you have to
press for change.

It’s the same mindset I embodied when I questioned Trump’s CDC Director in
the early days of the pandemic. It didn’t matter that I had no seniority
and was the last to question; I didn’t take no for an answer until the
nation’s top doctor agreed to make COVID testing free to all Americans.

Sen. Booker is right. You have power,
John.

Now is the time to speak up, get loud, and send a clear message that we
aren’t going to let right-wing extremists win.
