The Progressive Policy Institute and Bellwether invite you to:
** A Better Way to Promote Campus Diversity?
------------------------------------------------------------
[link removed]
Wednesday, April 9
9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
PPI Headquarters
B1 Conference Center
1919 M Street NW, Washington D.C., 20036
The U.S. Supreme Court’s 2023 ruling in Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard struck down racial preference policies. The decision led universities to seek new ways to promote diversity, such as providing an admissions boost based on economic disadvantage rather than race. Recently, however, the Trump administration has claimed ([link removed]) that even such race-neutral efforts are illegal if they are partly motivated by a desire to promote racial diversity.
Please join PPI and Bellwether for a panel discussion of whether “class, not race,” in college admissions offers a viable path for promoting social mobility and racial diversity.
Featured speakers include:
* Richard D. Kahlenberg, Director of the American Identity Project, Progressive Policy Institute, and author of the new book Class Matters: The Fight to Get Beyond Race Preferences, Reduce Inequality and Build Real Diversity at America’s Colleges
* Ruy Teixeira, Senior Fellow, American Enterprise Institute and Co-Editor of The Liberal Patriot
* Alison Somin, Senior Legal Fellow, Pacific Legal Foundation
* Stacy Hawkins, Professor of Law, Rutgers Law School
* Moderated by Sam Fulwood III, former LA Times National Correspondent
* Featuring opening remarks from Will Marshall, Founder and President of PPI, and Andy Rotherham, Co-Founder & Senior Partner of Bellwether
Breakfast and coffee will be provided. Copies of Class Matters will be available for purchase and signing—please reserve a book copy when you RSVP!
The panel will also be available to watch via Livestream. To receive a link, please register here ([link removed]) .
