Calling South Texas School Districts
(ESC Regions 1, 2, and 20): Join Our Study!

UTHealth Houston is conducting a study to see how well iCHAMPSS helps schools start, use, and maintain effective sexual health programs. They are looking for South Texas school districts to participate. The study will evaluate how iCHAMPSS supports schools in teaching sexual health education.

What is iCHAMPSS?

iCHAMPSS is a free, online tool that helps schools adopt and maintain sexual health programs. It offers more than 60 resources, such as guides, tips, and templates, to make the process easier for schools.

How does the study work?

Participating school districts will be randomly assigned to start using iCHAMPSS in either the Fall or Spring during the first two years of the study (2025-2026 and 2026-2027). All districts will have iCHAMPSS by the end of the second year.

A District Coordinator, identified by the district, will be asked to complete confidential surveys: one at the start of year and a follow-up survey at the end of each semester. Each survey will take about 15-20 minutes and can be completed at your convenience on any device with internet access.

You will be compensated for completing each survey.

Role of the District Coordinator

The District Coordinator will serve as the main point of contact during the study. They will:

  • -Act as one of the Program Champions for iCHAMPSS by using the iCHAMPPS website as needed.

  • -Coordinate study activities within the district, including identifying additional survey-takers and joining quarterly monitoring calls (as needed).
  • -Complete yearly district coordinator survey and virtual interview.

Have questions? Please contact Chelsey Kanipe, iCHAMPSS Research Coordinator, at [email protected] and Ana Belén Zelaya, Texas is Ready Program Manager, at [email protected].
