How do you turn the mayor of the fourth largest city in Indiana into an online juggernaut? By empowering supporters online---and that starts with breaking down the barrier separating candidates, campaigns, and organizations from their supporters. Today, we're excited to announce that Stefan Smith, Pete Buttigieg's Online Engagement Director, will be hosting a training session at the 2020 Indiana Young Democrats Virtual State Convention on June 20th!

Stefan Smith is a former historian and trained academic turned content creator and digital strategist. With Pete for America, Stefan built a novel digital volunteer corp that married organizing and content. Previously, he served as Digital Director for the Democratic Party of New Mexico, Chief Digital Strategist for Senator Martin Heinrich, and Deputy Digital Director of Hillary Clinton's campaign in Michigan. Smith's Digital Organizing: Empowering Supporters Online training will offer a glimpse into the Pete for America online organization which proved to be an unparalleled force in the Presidential Primary.

Important Dates and Reminders:

Any person eligible to be a member of the Indiana Young Democrats shall register and pay the annual $5 dues not later than June 10, 2020 in order to be considered a member in good standing and vote at the convention.
The deadline to request to vote by absentee ballot and cast an absentee ballot is June 17, 2020. Send requests to [email protected]. If you requested an absentee ballot, an email will be sent to you starting May 30th.
A person who resides in Indiana but cannot legally contribute to the Indiana Young Democrats may register for the convention, inform the President of their inability to contribute because of a legal prohibition, and be granted a waiver in order to be considered a member in good standing. Send requests to [email protected].

General Public and non-IYD Members

Members of the general public may attend our convention to watch our guest speakers, participate in training sessions, and to learn more about the Indiana Young Democrats. There is no fee for general registration but we do encourage the public to consider donating to our cause to help elect young Democrats to office across the state.
