Team -- I want to take a minute to discuss current events and protests in our country.
When George Floyd was killed by law enforcement last week, Americans were outraged -- as they should be. The actions by the police officers against George Floyd were horrific and I believe these officers should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
But this is about more than George Floyd. The pattern of police brutality against communities of color is pervasive and deeply regrettable. As such, more steps must be taken by federal, state, and local governments to improve police training and racial awareness.
And also importantly, we as individuals and as a nation must have the difficult conversations that are necessary to develop more empathy for one another and be part of the solutions to address systemic injustice and persistent discrimination.
So, I’m asking you to join me and take action by signing this pledge for justice and inclusivity.
As painful and dark as this situation is, I am simultaneously in awe of the bravery and power of Americans coming together to demand justice. So, thank you to the organizers, peaceful protesters, donors, and other agents of change. You give me hope.
I have always stood in support of the most vulnerable in our communities, and I stand with you now. And as your next Congressman, I pledge to remain committed to racial justice.
Sincerely,
Frank
