A Message Regarding Last Night and More ...

WILL President Rick Esenberg on Last Night's Election Results:

Wisconsin is no stranger to the shifting preferences of the electorate, and the sometimes baffling rough and tumble of our politics.

But what never should change is our commitment to the timeless principles of our state and federal constitutions: individual liberty, equality, and limited government. WILL remains devoted to defending those principles in the courtroom and through vigorous public debate.

In 2023, WILL won a unanimous (7-0) victory at the Wisconsin Supreme Court to protect property taxpayers, our policy team helped secure critical new funds for Wisconsin’s School Choice Program. And just last month, we secured a major legal victory from a Milwaukee judge to protect students when the public schools were not doing their job. We have won in federal courtrooms, state courtrooms, in the State Capitol, and have broken new ground in cities and states all over our country. Politicians come and go but liberty and the rule of law remain.

Our winning track record speaks for itself, and we look forward to many more wins for liberty in the coming years.

Voter ID Wins in Wisconsin Ballot Referendum

Last night, Wisconsin voters approved a ballot question enshrining Voter ID into our state's Constitution.

WILL has promoted Voter ID and defended the law on numerous occasions.

We have also assessed the law's impact on turnout and released critical findings ahead of the Spring 2025 Election.

Wisconsin's State Superintendent Opposes School Choice

“Ultimately, yes. I would like to see (school choice) eliminated." - Wisconsin State Superintendent Jill Underly, PBS, March 2025.

WILL, a long defender of school choice in Wisconsin, will continue to defend Wisconsin's longstanding and popular school choice program.

We recently released its annual Apples to Apples report, which highlights a widening achievement gap between Wisconsin’s traditional public and choice schools.

In partnership with School Choice Wisconsin, pushed back on the narrative that choice schools don't educate students with disabilities.

And we have explained how over-regulation is what's hurting Wisconsin's choice program, holding students back.

We remain on the front lines of promoting educational freedom and reform here in Wisconsin, including our upcoming School Board Summit that will be held on May 9th.

Catherine Price to Speak at WILL School Board Summit on May 9th

We are pleased to announce renowned author, Catherine Price, as our lunch keynote speaker for the 2025 School Board Summit, hosted by WILL. Price, the author of How to Break Up With Your Phone, and other books, is an internationally recognized expert on digital wellbeing. She will speak about kids, smartphones, and social media.

“What To Do About Kids, Smartphones, and Social Media: The Risks and the Solutions” A presentation— which Jonathan Haidt has described as "focused, brilliant, and clear"— about the scientific and moral arguments for delaying the age at which children are given access to smartphones and social media (and banning them in schools from bell to bell). RSVP for this now while space lasts.

WI Families Fight Back Against Woke School District

WILL filed a Title IX complaint with the Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights (OCR) and with U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi (DOJ) against Westosha Central High School for endangering the safety and privacy of multiple female students. Over parent objections, the school allowed a biological male to change in the girls’ locker room and then punished female students who attempted to avoid changing in front of the male.

WILL Associate Counsel, Lauren Greuel, stated, “When schools like Westosha force girls into an inadequate choice between exposing themselves to a male student or academic penalties, they abandon all common-sense and their core mission. The law requires protections for girls to have the same educational opportunities as their male peers."
