About a year before Trump took office, and long before he won in November, Dem AGs began to prepare for the possibility of a second term. They split up the work and began assembling a “brief bank,” where outlined lawsuits were saved should they ever need to be filed. 

And thanks to Project 2025, Dem AGs knew exactly how the Trump administration was planning to attack should he return to the White House. 

In the first 24 hours after Trump’s inauguration, they filed their first lawsuit and successfully blocked Trump’s attempt to end birthright citizenship. And when Trump tried to institute a chaotic funding freeze, all 23 Dem AGs sued and won a block on the freeze just three days later. 

That’s the power of being ready for what’s coming.

Since then, Dem AGs have fought back on everything from Trump’s attempts to demolish the Department of Education and his disastrous federal firing scheme to his anointing of his billionaire buddy Elon Musk as head of DOGE.

Dem AGs keep winning. They knew what was coming, they prepared, and that’s why they’re coming out on top.
