Today is what Trump is calling “Liberation Day.” But what does that really mean? It means he’s once again playing politics with our economy – this time by rolling out widespread tariffs that will drive up costs for everyday Americans.

Here’s what’s happening: Trump announced his plans to roll out a 25% tariff on auto imports, increasing car prices across the board (whether made in the U.S. or not). He also announced a minimum baseline tariff of 10% on all countries across the world, with additional "reciprocal" tariffs on nations such as China, Europe, Vietnam, and around 60 other countries.

Let’s be clear: These policies will only work to raise costs for our families and communities – from cars and homes to groceries and beyond. Instead of helping American families, Trump is adding to their financial burden and pushing us closer to a Trump Recession and a global trade war.
