John,

From Monday to Tuesday evening my friend, Senator Cory Booker, addressed the Senate for 25 hours and 5 minutes — breaking the record for the longest nonstop floor speech in modern history of the chamber.

In holding the floor for over a day, Senator Booker served as a voice for the American people, and it's time the GOP started listening. Sign your name next to mine to thank Senator Booker for his strong commitment to the American public and to our democracy.

Senator Booker said the quiet part out loud: "These are not normal times in America. And they should not be treated as such in the United States Senate."

Donald Trump's actions have already had devastating consequences. Thousands of federal workers have lost their jobs. His party is threatening to cut Medicaid and Social Security, with SNAP and other life-saving resources on the chopping block, too. His tariffs have upended global trade, placing the burden on American farmers, small businesses, and consumers.

In Philadelphia, I've heard firsthand from constituents who have lost their jobs. People who are worried about what the future holds for our country. Mothers who don't know if they'll be able to keep food on the table and a roof over their heads.

Their concerns matter. Their voices need to be heard in the People's House, and that is what I aim to do every day.

One final note, John, if you're still with me:

Senator Booker's record-breaking speech unseated Senator Strom Thurmond’s previous record. Senator Thurmond used his speech to speak against the Civil Rights Act in 1957. The irony of Senator Booker defeating Thurmond's record that existed solely because of bigotry and anti-Black hate can't be overlooked. It's a reminder that progress can't be stopped. Time marches forward, and we have the power to take our country out of the darkness and into the future.

Americans are ready. Last night, in the most expensive judicial race in U.S. history, Susan Crawford defeated right-leaning Brad Schimel to be the next justice in the Wisconsin Supreme Court. She secured a liberal majority despite Elon Musk pouring $20 million into the race to buy the seat for Trump.

Progress. Hope. Determination. Justice-elect Crawford, Senator Booker, me, and you. We're going to take our country back.

In solidarity,

Dwight
