John, Yesterday, voters went to the polls to elect a Supreme Court justice in Wisconsin and for special elections for two congressional seats in Florida. In Wisconsin, despite tens of millions of dollars spent by Elon Musk (including paying voters directly!), the progressive candidate won. In special elections in Florida, Democrats cut the margins in half in two districts Trump won by 30 or more points. In the face of these results, Republicans in Congress are now moving at warp speed to advance a bill to make it harder to vote! The Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act would require documentary proof of citizenship, such as a passport or birth certificate, for anyone registering to vote or updating their voter registration. If you’re a rural voter, a married person who changed their last name, or an American citizen, this bill would make it a lot harder to vote. This is a discriminatory attempt to silence thousands of voter voices with more red tape. Take action to stop this bill by sending an urgent message to your members of Congress.
