John,
We knew a lot was on the line in Wisconsin.
The winner of yesterday’s state Supreme Court election will determine the ideological balance of power on the court for years to come. That impacts the future of democracy matters in the state, like redistricting, ballot drop boxes, and voter ID rules.
Wisconsin also has one of the strictest voter ID laws in the country. VoteRiders is the nation’s leading organization focused on eliminating ID barriers to voting, and we knew we had a critical role to play in ensuring all eligible voters could participate in this critical election.
In the face of these barriers, this was the highest turnout ever seen in a Wisconsin Supreme Court election . We’re proud we reached more than 800,000 Wisconsin voters ahead of Election Day with voter ID assistance and education.
That was in part thanks to the generosity of VoteRiders donors, who supplied the funding for us to run digital ads, buy billboard space, text voters, distribute Voter ID Information Cards, and so much more. It was also thanks to the 450+ volunteers who stepped up to send more than 12,000 letters and nearly 800,000 text messages to at-risk voters.
Now, as we turn our focus to municipal elections in Georgia, Texas, North Carolina, and more, help us carry our momentum forward:
* $35 funds the cost of securing a vital document (such as an ID or birth certificate) for one voter. >> [link removed]
* $50 pays for directly contacting 100 voters, targeted because they are likely to need ID help. >> [link removed]
* $500 pays for training 100 voter ID assistance volunteers, each of whom can assist more voters. >> [link removed]

While we’re thrilled to have boosted record turnout in the important race, we are deeply disappointed by the passage of Wisconsin’s constitutional amendment cementing the state’s strict voter ID law. This amendment is a direct attack on voter access designed to make it harder for Wisconsinites to participate in the democratic process.
VoteRiders remains steadfast in our mission to provide the people of Wisconsin with the education and free help they need to register and vote. We will continue to support voters in Wisconsin no matter the barriers that are placed in our way.
We’ll need additional resources to continue our highly effective, high-touch approach, especially now that the voter ID laws is in the constitution. Donate now and power our work in Wisconsin and in battleground states across the country.
