She joined the WCA board in 2019 and previously served as vice chair. Discover more about Billingsley and her impact on Washington’s environment and communities on our blog [[link removed]].

As you may have heard, Initiative 2066 was ruled unconstitutional by the King County Superior Court. I-2066 sought to weaken our state Clean Air Act, attack energy efficiency in our building codes, and prevent utilities from helping customers afford higher-efficiency electric appliances. This ruling is a win for Washingtonians and clean energy progress! Read more here. [[link removed]]

Right now Congress is considering a bill that undermines important salmon recovery efforts in the Columbia-Snake River Basin. If it becomes law, the legislation would increase risk and uncertainty for endangered salmon and steelhead and for our communities. Urge your Congress member to stop this legislation to protect salmon runs from extinction! [[link removed]]

STAFF CORNER: Kenzie Knapp (she/they)

While in college, Kenzie turned their climate anxiety into action by organizing with the Sunrise Movement and working for organizations that are fighting for a better future like the Tacoma Tree Foundation, Washington Bus, No on 2117, and now WCA.

"Washington state is my home. From knocking doors to meeting with State representatives, I am proud to combat the climate crisis and promote democracy and voting justice in community with my colleagues at WCA."

Kenzie (she/ they) is the political & civic engagement coordinator for WCA’s political team. They grew up in Bellingham and are currently living in Seattle.

Kenzie's commitment to climate action stemmed from her experience with extreme weather, particularly forest smoke, which rendered the street she grew up on unrecognizable.

At work, Kenzie works closely with the Washington Voting Justice Coalition to advance voting justice bills during legislative sessions and then pivots to focusing on political endorsements during election seasons.

Outside of work, Kenzie is passionate about theatrical arts. She enjoys performing and playwriting.
