Dear Neighbor,
Each spring, the Artistic Discovery Contest, a nationwide high school arts competition, is sponsored by the Members of the U.S. House of Representatives as an opportunity to recognize and encourage artistic talent in the nation. This competition is open to any high school student who resides in New York’s 8th Congressional District and creates an original work of art. The first-place recipient will have their artwork displayed in the U.S. Capitol for an entire year.
Each entry must submit a TYPED copy of the Student Information and Release Form along with a photo of their artwork to [email protected] by Monday, April 28, 2025.
Accepted mediums include:
- Paintings: oil, acrylics, watercolor, etc.
- Drawings: colored pencil, pencil, ink, marker, pastels, charcoal
- Collage: must be two-dimensional
- Prints: lithographs, silkscreen, block prints
- Mixed Media: use of more than two mediums, such as pencil, ink, watercolor, etc.
- Computer-generated art
- Photography
