Good morning, John –
I want to share some updates with you from Congress and across our nation. Here are three things you need to know:
-
The senseless killing of George Floyd on May 25 has shaken the nation. I extend my sincerest prayers to his family and friends during this traumatic time, and I stand alongside those who protest peacefully. It is clear that changes need to be made to foster equity and peace in this nation.
-
Two weeks ago, the Department of Agriculture began allowing SNAP recipients to use their benefits for online grocery purchases. This will promote social distancing and equitable food access. As Chairman of the Subcommittee that funds the USDA, I have spearheaded this initiative so that Southern and rural communities across the nation can access nutritious food.

Georgia’s primary election is coming up on June 9. During these challenging times, it is more important than ever to make your voice heard at the ballot box. Whether you choose to vote by mail or in person using appropriate safety precautions, I encourage you to participate in this privilege of democracy. Confirm your voter status here →

Sincerely,
Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr.
