Dear John,
I want to take a moment to thank you for your support of Race Forward and the racial justice movement. Your continued presence means the world to us, and in times like these, it’s a reminder we are not in this fight alone. Our work to advance racial equity extends far beyond the staff of this organization, or our immediate partners–it’s a movement that includes you.
Though this year has been difficult, we find strength in knowing that you stand with us. When we stand together we build power, and our power has the ability to change the world.
Right now, we are facing a direct and dangerous attempt to dismantle the progress we have made. In recent months, we’ve seen attacks on immigrants, LGBTQ+ communities, labor rights, and the core values of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Government institutions that serve our communities and policies designed to uphold civil rights are under threat. The playbook of authoritarianism is unfolding before us, and our single option is clear: we must meet this moment with courage and action.
Those in power want us to believe we are powerless against them, but we are not. In fact, our power comes from our shared struggle and solidarity. History has shown us that when communities come together, when we refuse to be silenced, when we organize and push forward with a bold vision, when we hold firm to our values, real change happens.
At Race Forward, we’re meeting this moment head-on.
We are working alongside local leaders to protect racial equity in government, lifting up the stories that define our communities, and standing with educators to ensure that public schools remain strong, and that we preserve our nation’s history.
Your role in this movement remains critical. The support you provide strengthens everything we do. It helps us build resilience not just to defend what we have gained, but to continually reimagine what justice can look like for future generations.
