The U.S. House of Representatives is back in session for another week of committee hearings, legislative votes, and floor activity. For more information on what I'm working on this week, be sure to follow me on social media. I do not serve in Congress to be a caretaker in the slow demise of America— I serve to fight and work to make it stronger. That’s what I am doing while believing our brightest days are yet to come. Yours in service, Click below to follow me on social media. Mann.House.Gov Meetings in the Office Kelly Hills Unmanned Systems Kansas Beverage Association National Sorghum Producers Fraternal Government Relations Association Kansas Restaurant and Hospitality Association Protecting Our Food Supply Around the World Last week, I reintroduced the bipartisan FRIDGE Act to help strengthen cold storage and refrigeration infrastructure in new and developing markets around the world. Producers in the Big First and across the country raise the highest-quality beef, poultry, and other perishable products—but without reliable cold chain infrastructure overseas, too many markets remain out of reach. Cold storage is a critical part of the agricultural supply chain, helping ensure that perishable goods stay fresh as they move from the farm to families around the world. The FRIDGE Act equips USDA to partner with emerging markets by providing technical assistance to enhance infrastructure construction. These investments will reduce spoilage, expand export opportunities, and help Kansas ranchers and agricultural producers feed a growing, hungry population. Fighting for our 2nd Amendment Freedoms The Second Amendment is a load-bearing wall of our Constitution, and when unelected bureaucrats block law-abiding citizens from exercising that right, the entire structure of our freedoms is put at risk. I was proud to see the Firearm Due Process Protection Act, a bill I cosponsor, pass out of the House Judiciary Committee. Our bill ensures that Americans who are wrongfully denied firearms due to administrative errors have a fair and timely appeals process. It reaffirms the 60-day deadline for the federal government to act on appeals, allows individuals to seek a court judgment when delays drag on and increases transparency by requiring the FBI to report key appeal data to Congress each year. This is a commonsense step to hold the federal government accountable and to make sure the rights of responsible gun owners are protected—not delayed or denied by red tape. Urging Governor Kelly to Help Kansans Last week, I sent a letter to Governor Laura Kelly urging her to request a waiver allowing the sale of E15 fuel during the summer months. While eight other Midwestern governors took action to secure this waiver last year, Governor Kelly chose not to—putting Kansas farmers and fuel producers at a disadvantage. Producers in the Big First grow the corn that becomes biofuel, and their success depends on strong, stable markets for E15. E15 is a cleaner, more affordable fuel blend that supports Kansas agriculture by increasing demand for homegrown biofuels. I’m proud to be a cosponsor of the Nationwide Consumer and Fuel Retailer Choice Act to make year-round E15 available nationwide. Kansans deserve access to the highest quality fuel at the lowest possible price, and I strongly urge Governor Kelly to request a waiver ahead of the summer driving season. Honoring our March Ag Hero: Dr. Barnhardt For Dr. Tera Barnhardt, a major challenge on the family farm led to a life-changing series of events for her as a young child. Years later, her career as a large animal veterinarian has allowed her to serve a community that has given so much to her. Agriculture isn’t just her profession—it’s her passion and her purpose. In 2024, cattle contributed more than $11 billion to Kansas’ economy. As the number one cattle-producing district in the nation, the success of the livestock industry is essential to our way of life in the Big First. That success, however, didn’t come overnight. It is driven by ranchers and livestock producers who raise these animals, along with the veterinarians who care for them just like Dr. Barnhardt. That is why she is our March Kansas Ag Hero. Read Our March Ag Hero Here Mann in the News I had a great time catching up with Jason Alatidd from the Topeka Capital-Journal last week. During our interview we discussed the upcoming budget reconciliation process, President Trump's impressive work to secure our southern border, and our country's path to American energy dominance. You can read more of the interview by clicking below. Topeka Capital-Journal Interview 2025 Congressional Art Competition Each spring, my office sponsors a districtwide high school art competition to recognize the artistic talent in the Big First District. The winning artwork of our district's competition will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol. The exhibit in Washington, D.C. will include the winning artwork from all participating districts around the country. This year's theme for the competition is Kansas, the Land That I Love. For more information on the rules, requirements, and deadlines for the competition, please click below or visit my website. 2025 Art Competition Meetings in the Office National Council of Farmer Cooperatives I met with the National Council of Farmer Cooperatives to talk about how we can continue to support the farmer co-ops that are vital to farmers, ranchers, and agricultural producers across the Big First District. Co-ops help producers grow their businesses, invest in their communities, and stay competitive. Thanks for all you do to support our Kansas agricultural community! National Association of Wheat Growers I also met with the National Association of Wheat Growers to talk about the importance of passing a five-year, comprehensive Farm Bill that supports producers in the Big First and beyond. Wheat is a vital contributor to the Kansas agricultural economy as the top wheat-producing state in the nation. Thanks for coming in to meet with me! Kansas Agriculture and Rural Leadership I met with this term's class of Kansas Agriculture and Rural Leadership (KARL) to talk about the work we’re doing in Congress to strengthen agricultural and rural communities across the Big First. These emerging leaders are the future of Kansas agriculture, and I applaud their commitment to our state’s success. We discussed the importance of Congress passing a Farm Bill that provides certainty to farm country and faithfully stewards taxpayer dollars. Thank you, KARL, for meeting with me and for all you do to shape the future of Kansas. Missouri and Associated Rivers Coalition I met with the Missouri and Associated Rivers Coalition (MOARC) to discuss the importance of managing and protecting our water resources across the Big First. We discussed their priorities for the next reauthorization of the Water Resources Development Act and the need to maintain a balanced approach to water use, flood control, and conservation along the Missouri River Basin. Water is essential to agriculture, energy, and economic growth in Kansas, and it’s important to ensure that stakeholders have a voice in crafting a sound policy that works best for them. Thanks for stopping by. Kansas Livestock Association I met with the Kansas Livestock Association to discuss the importance of passing a five-year, comprehensive Farm Bill that supports the livestock industry. We also spoke about the need to strengthen trade partnerships for agricultural and livestock producers. As the representative for the top cattle-producing district in the nation, I feel strongly that our farmers, ranchers, and agricultural producers should lead the way in helping Washington, D.C. craft sound farm and food policy that keeps America fed and secure. Thanks, KLA, for the meeting! American Business Immigration Coalition I met with the American Business Immigration Coalition to discuss workforce challenges facing agriculture and other key industries across the Big First. We talked about the need for policies that make it harder to enter the country illegally while maintaining a reliable, legal workforce to meet the demands of today’s producers. I appreciate ABIC’s work to bring voices from across the business community to the table. Thanks for meeting with me! CHS Inc. As a cooperative agribusiness owned by farmers, CHS plays a vital role in supporting agriculture producers across the Big First by providing marketing and production resources. I met with CHS to talk about key issues impacting rural communities and the ag economy, and the importance of maintaining the Section 199A deduction, which helps farmer-owned co-ops reinvest in their members and local communities. I also appreciated hearing the update on CHS’s refinery operations in McPherson. Thank you, CHS, for all you do to support America’s farmers, ranchers, and agricultural producers. Kansas Association of Conservation Districts I met with the Kansas Association of Conservation Districts to talk about the conservation priorities that matter most to farmers and ranchers across the Big First. We discussed how they are working to keep land and resources like the Ogallala Aquifer productive for future generations. We also discussed the importance of strong support for conservation programs in a five-year, fiscally conservative Farm Bill. Thanks for all you do to support our farmers, ranchers, and agricultural producers! Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City I sat down with representatives from the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City to discuss agricultural lending, rural development, and the economic outlook for Kansas and the broader region. We also talked about how access to capital, a stable financial system, and workforce development are key to helping rural communities grow. It’s important that voices from the Big First are part of the conversation when decisions are being made that impact small towns and producers. Thanks for meeting with me! American Coalition of Ethanol I spoke with the American Coalition for Ethanol about the role biofuels play in strengthening rural economies, lowering costs at the pump, and expanding markets for Kansas farmers. We discussed the need for year-round, nationwide access to E15 and improvements to the Renewable Fuel Standard to ensure long-term stability for ethanol producers. Ethanol supports jobs, innovation, and economic growth across the Big First, and I am thankful for the productive conversation with ACE on how we can support Kansas farmers through ethanol production.     Visiting Washington, D.C.?
