Content Warning: this email discusses murder and police brutality.

Friend, we are both heartbroken, horrified, and outraged by George Floyd’s execution by four police officers in Minneapolis. Yet another Black man murdered by police.

In this moment, Congress must stop and listen to the people who are hurting, and to the communities that have been ignored for so long. That is why we, in partnership with our sisters-in-service, Reps. Karen Bass and Barbara Lee, introduced a resolution to condemn police brutality, racial profiling, and the use of excessive force.

We need your help to make sure we have broad support for this powerfully important resolution -- and we must demand that leadership bring this resolution to the floor for a vote.

Friend, please support our fight for action by sending a letter to your representative in the House telling them you support our resolution. Participating in this action will only take a few moments of your time, and it’s a critical step on the path to justice.

Send Your Letter

Black people in our country have been brutalized, dehumanized, and murdered for centuries -- violence that continues today at the hands of the police. It is past time for accountability, and for justice.

We will keep supporting the organizations on the ground in our communities doing the work to organize and fight for justice, and we will continue the struggle to end the systemic racism and bigotry that led to the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Sandra Bland, Eric Garner, Philando Castille, Tamir Rice, and so many others who should still be alive today. That’s why we need widespread citizen support for this resolution, and to bring it to the floor for a vote as soon as possible.

Please, send your representative a letter and let them know you support our resolution -- and urge them to push House leadership for a floor vote.

Send Your Letter

Thank you for taking action. Together, we will fight for accountability. We will fight to dismantle systems of oppression. And we will keep up the fight to protect Black lives.

In solidarity,

-- Ayanna Pressley and Ilhan Omar
