Statewide Excavation Safety Stand-down, April 21-35

Excavation Safety Stand-down, April 21 through 25, 2025

Minnesota OSHA (MNOSHA), along with other safety professionals, is promoting and participating in a statewide Excavation Safety Stand-down, April 21 through 25. MNOSHA wants to take this opportunity to focus on the importance of excavation safety.

The Excavation Stand-down is a voluntary event for employers to reinforce the importance of working safely in and around excavations and discuss topics such as how to properly slope, shore or shield workers from excavation hazards.

Webinar:  Understanding prevailing wage and its impact on contractors, workers and public works projects

This session will cover what prevailing wage is, what public works and construction projects it applies to, how to find the correct prevailing-wage rate for a specific type of worker, how wage rates are established and more.


Learn about the benefits of registered apprenticeship

Join representatives from Apprenticeship Minnesota to learn about registered apprenticeship and the benefits of growing and sustaining an innovative workforce. Events are scheduled throughout April. Learn more and register for an event.


Apply for a Dual Training Grant by April 15

Join our partners at the Minnesota Office of Higher Education as they launch a new round of Dual Training Grants. Funds are available to employers and can be used to cover costs related to setting up a dual-training program. Learn more and sign-up for a grant writing workshop.


2025 Spring Seminar sessions begin April 9

The 2025 Spring Seminar – Residential Applications of the Minnesota State Plumbing Code and DLI Licensing Updates – is offered at six locations across Minnesota in April and May and includes seven continuing education credits for building officials.


New edition of COMPACT newsletter available

The March edition of COMPACT was published Wednesday, March 12, with email notification sent to subscribers. The quarterly newsletter from DLI's Workers' Compensation Division is targeted to workers' compensation professionals. Subscribe now to receive quarterly notification via email.


MNOSHA fatality, serious-injury investigation summaries online

Each month, Minnesota OSHA (MNOSHA) Compliance publishes current, updated summaries of its fatality investigations and serious-injury investigations.

For the federal-fiscal-year that began Oct. 1, 2024, MNOSHA has investigated 10 fatalities through March 26.

The information provided about each investigation is:  the inspection number, date of incident and worksite city; the type of business and number of employees; a description of the event; and the outcome of the MNOSHA Compliance investigation.
