John,
The secret is out.
For almost one hundred years efforts to pass a federal anti-lynching law have been blocked in Washington.
Finally, Speaker Pelosi crafted a bipartisan bill that passed with an overwhelming 410-4 vote.
But the bill was stopped in the Senate with a "secret hold" by one member. When the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis raised national consciousness about racism and law enforcement, pressure grew for the "secret" Senator to come forward.
This week Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky publicly admitted he was the member singlehandedly stopping the bill.
Enough.
Republican Senate Leader Mitch McConnell has the power to bring the anti-lynching bill to the floor of the Senate and end the Rand Paul hold.
Now more than ever the Senate needs to go on the record to criminalize this scandalous chapter in our nation's history.
If you agree that Mitch McConnell should schedule this vote immediately, add your name to this petition.
