Republicans Clinch Special Election for Florida’s 1st, 6th Congressional District Seats

NBC: Republican Randy Fine has won the special election in Florida’s 6th Congressional District, prevailing in the longtime Republican stronghold despite unexpectedly fierce competition from Democrat Josh Weil, according to NBC News’ projection. The special election to fill the seat held by Michael Waltz, who left Congress to become Trump’s national security adviser, turned out to be unusually competitive. GOP leaders were alarmed that Weil, an educator, had outraised Fine, a state senator, by millions of dollars in the race (NBC). Nick Sortor: Trump-endorsed Randy Fine has won, and will be the next Congressman for Florida’s 6th Congressional district… Democrats poured over $10 million into the race, but still got blown out of the water (X). Townhall: On Tuesday night, Republicans easily pulled off another victory with Jimmy Patronis’ win for Florida’s 1st Congressional District. Although Democrats had hoped to pull off a win. Patronis is replacing former Rep. Matt Gaetz, a fellow Republican who resigned last November (Townhall).

Wisconsin Decides Supreme Court Election in Favor of Democrat-Backed Judge Janet Protasiewicz
Townhall: On Tuesday night, a little less than an hour after the polls closed in Wisconsin, liberal Judge Susan Crawford was announced the winner of the state’s Supreme Court race. She was heavily backed by Democrats. After an April 2023 race saw Judge Janet Protasiewicz, who was also backed by Democrats, win an open seat, the court shifted to a 4-3 liberal majority. Liberals get to maintain their majority on the court (Townhall). Check out the full results here (New York Times).

Alleged Murderer Luigi Mangione Faces Death Penalty
Wall Street Journal: Attorney General Pam Bondi on Tuesday directed federal prosecutors to seek the death penalty against Luigi Mangione, the accused killer of a UnitedHealth executive, calling the slaying a “premeditated, cold-blooded assassination that shocked America…” Mangione, 26 years old, faces state and federal charges in the murder of UnitedHealthcare Chief Executive Brian Thompson last year. Prosecutors have accused Mangione of waiting outside a Midtown Manhattan hotel where the executive was set to attend an investor meeting. Mangione shot Thompson with a 3D-printed ghost gun, prosecutors said, then fled the scene on an e-bike. Following a nearly weeklong manhunt, he was arrested after being spotted at a McDonald’s in Pennsylvania. Federal prosecutors in December charged Mangione with offenses including using a firearm to commit murder, which made him eligible for the death penalty if convicted (Wall Street Journal). National Review: Mangione allegedly committed the murder because he harbored resentment toward the health insurance industry, possibly exacerbated by his debilitating back injury… The man has unusually amassed a number of followers, who likewise hate the healthcare industry. His supporters have described Mangione as a “political prisoner” and even contributed to his own legal defense fund, which has received over $775,000 as of Tuesday (National Review).

Health Department Prepares Mass Layoffs
Wall Street Journal: Leaders across Health and Human Services are being reassigned to the Indian Health Service as part of a move to reorganize and shrink the nation’s health agencies including the Food and Drug Administration, the National Institutes of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In March, Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said the agency would cut more than 10,000 federal workers. Emails notifying employees of cuts and reassignments flooded inboxes Monday night and early Tuesday morning (Wall Street Journal). NBC: Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency is attempting to reduce the health department’s workforce from 82,000 to 62,000 across several agencies, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Food and Drug Administration and the National Institutes of Health (NBC).

San Francisco New Speeding Fine Policy Would Charge Higher Income Earners More
Fox News: San Francisco is launching a new program backed by Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom that will issue speeding tickets based on income. The Speed Safety System Pilot Program was signed by Newsom in October 2023 and allows cities across California to use speeding cameras to fine drivers. Those considered lower-income are eligible for a steep discount if they receive a speeding ticket. Violations for speeding range from $50 to $500, but individuals with a household income at or below 200% of the federal poverty level are eligible for a 50% discount, according to the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency. Indigent persons, or individuals who are homeless, are eligible for an 80% discount on the speeding ticket (Fox News). Aaron Prager: This has to be an April fools joke… Wait it’s California doing California things again. Just another day. How do Californians feel about this (X)?

Israel Cancels Tariffs on American Imports
Times of Israel: Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich on Tuesday signed a directive to scrap all remaining tariffs on imports from the US with immediate effect in an apparent attempt to win a reprieve from the Trump administration’s levy of reciprocal duties expected to be announced Wednesday. The order was coordinated with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Economy Minister Nir Barkat, but is subject to the final approval by the Knesset Finance Committee (Times of Israel). Just the News: Trump has yet to clarify whether he will seek a universal 20% tariff on all imports or adopt a reciprocal approach of matching the tariff rates of other nations (Just the News).

Fulton County DA Fani Willis Spotted With Lover Nathan Wade After Previously Stating Relationship was Over
Townhall: Fulton County DA Fani Willis was caught again, this time on airport video, with her lover Nathan Wade after testifying under oath that their affair ended prior to President Donald Trump’s August 2023 indictment. According to terminal footage from The Daily Mail, the two former Trump prosecutors were filmed traveling together at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) last week. The couple, keeping a low profile, was spotted in casual clothing as they hauled their luggage through departures in the direction of the Delta lounge (Townhall). Collin Rugg: Fulton County DA Fani Willis, who denied being in a relationship with Trump prosecutor Nathan Wade, spotted at the airport with Nathan Wade (X).

Democrat Lawmaker Accuses Journalist Matt Taibbi of Being "a serial sexual harasser" During Censorship Hearing
Townhall Reporter Jeff Charles: Instead of addressing the topic at hand, Rep. Sydney Kamlager-Dove resurrected old, unproven sexual harassment allegations against journalist Matt Taibbi, claiming he is “a serial sexual harasser.” The hearing is about government censorship (X). Townhall: There is no evidence that Taibbi sexually harassed women. The issue stems from a book the journalist co-authored, which contained provocative content. His detractors claim this is evidence that he sexually harassed women. Taibbi has denied the allegations, and there have been no legal proceedings against him. There is also the fact that old accusations against Taibbi have absolutely nothing to do with the purpose of the hearing: Censorship. Kamlager-Dove used a reprehensible smear tactic against Taibbi instead of trying to refute his arguments – a strategy that other Democrats on the panel employed. In fact, her decision to bring up the allegations shows that she and her Democratic colleagues have no argument. The reality is that the State Department did fund organizations like the Global Disinformation Index, Global Engagement Center, Newsguard, and other entities that actively sought to suppress right-leaning speech on the internet. Apparently, this isn’t a problem as long as it affects their political opposition (Townhall).

Jasmine Crockett Shut Down as She Pretends to Care About Ruling of Judges
PJ Media: During a House Judiciary Committee hearing on Tuesday, Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) truly made herself out to be the April Fool. As you know, activist judges at the district level have been issuing nationwide injunctions at an unprecedented rate to hamstring President Donald Trump. This has prompted several in the GOP to call for the impeachment of the worst offending judges and legislation to rein in the abuse. During Tuesday’s hearing, Crockett lectured on the importance of respecting judicial authority, warning that disregarding court orders would undermine the rule of law. “The problem that we have right now is that if we continue down this road, then we will not have a rule of law because we have people that are currently serving, and they’re saying things like, ‘Ignore the judge’s order,’” she said. “What it means to have law and order in this country is that you follow the order and you go through the appeals process, even if you dislike what the judge did.” She then yielded her time. But Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) immediately called out the hypocrisy, pointing out that last year, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) “led articles of impeachment on Justice Thomas and Alito,” Issa pointed out. “Ms. Crockett was one of the co-sponsors, along with Mr. Cohen, both members of this committee.” Issa didn’t hold back, highlighting the blatant double standard at play: “It does seem interesting that when the shoe is on the other foot, everyone is self-righteous, and I think this is a good example” (PJ Media). Townhall: Jasmine Crockett starts HYPERVENTILATING about protecting the institution of the judiciary — before PROMPTLY being reminded by Rep. Darrell Issa that she cosponsored legislation to impeach Justices Thomas & Alito (X)!

British Toddler Kicked Out of Preschool for Transphobia: “Totalitarian insanity”
Daily Mail: A toddler has been kicked out of nursery after being accused of transphobia, new figures reveal. The child, aged either three or four, was suspended for ‘abuse against sexual orientation and gender identity’, data from the Department for Education shows. The offences took place in the 2022-23 academic year at a state school. Statistics indicate 94 pupils at similar primary institutions were suspended or permanently excluded for transphobia or homophobia in the same year (Daily Mail). J.K. Rowling: This is totalitarian insanity. If you think small children should be punished for being able to recognize sex, you are a dangerous zealot who should be nowhere near kids or in any position of authority over them (X).
