Happy 25th Birthday to National Ice Centre & Motorpoint Arena

The biggest entertainment venue in the East Midlands is celebrating a monumental milestone this month as it turns 25! Since opening its doors in April 2000, the National Ice Centre and Motorpoint Arena Nottingham has been a premier destination for world-class performances, sporting events, concerts, and more, drawing millions of visitors from across the UK and beyond.

From music acts such as Coldplay, Lady Gaga, Elton John, Beyonce and Ed Sheeran, to serving as a key site for top comedians including Ricky Gervais, Chris Rock, Lee Evans, Michael McIntyre, Billy Connolly and Peter Kay, Motorpoint Arena is a cultural hub in the region, providing both locals and visitors with unforgettable experiences.

The People's Picture Project

Arena Crowd

This is your chance to get invovled and be a part of a lasting tribute to the arena. The venue has commissioned The People’s Picture Project to create a photo mosaic to celebrate its 25th anniversary. This one-of-a-kind artwork will be made up of thousands of fan photos spanning the years, reflecting the vibrant and diverse community that has shaped the venue’s story so far. The mosaic will be unveiled and displayed in the foyer of the Motorpoint Arena in summer 2025.

Whether it’s seeing live music, taking in a sports event, or simply enjoying cherished times with friends, the arena has been the backdrop for countless special memories. Perhaps you met your partner, got engaged at an event, or experienced your first ever concert... share your stories and pictures!

Free ice skating for Nottingham City children

National Ice Centre

This June and July, the National Ice Centre is giving every child in Nottingham the chance to skate for free!

Managed directly via the city’s schools, it’s the perfect chance for children to bond, stay active, and enjoy a fun-filled day with their friends. Schools across the city are already signing up, so check with yours and make sure your child doesn't miss out on the ice skating excitement.

Celebrate 25 years of the National Ice Centre with the ultimate Easter family day out, taking place on Saturday 12 April from 10am-1pm.

Take part in free* skating taster sessions and off-ice activities including arts and crafts, outdoor games, and high-energy sports to keep the whole family entertained. Plus, join the Easter egg hunt and keep an eye out for more surprises and special guests!

Torvill & Dean: Our Last Dance

Skating legends Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean will be embarking on their 50th Anniversary Tour this year, with shows at Motorpoint Arena on Wednesday 23 & Thursday 24 April, as well as their final ever performances on Friday 11 & Saturday 12 July.

A tribute to their half-century legacy, Our Last Dance will give audiences a unique opportunity to experience and celebrate their iconic partnership for one last time in an arena spectacular. See them in action as they reflect on their illustrious career, writing the final chapter in what has been a truly remarkable story in British sport.
