Hi John,

Today is April Fools Day. It’s important to keep your guard up for pranks,
hoaxes and scams. But do you know what is not a joke? The administration
signaling it intends to cut funding for global vaccine programs that have
vaccinated more than 1.1 billion children over the last 25 years.

Will you sign our petition to show your support? The text
reads:



I urge you to support funding for smart, impactful and effective foreign
assistance programs. The US should invest in initiatives that save lives,
strengthen strategic partnerships and alliances, and reflect the very the
best of American values.

Stepping back from these efforts weakens US leadership, making the world
less safe and secure and gives our adversaries an opportunity to fill the
void. Please prioritize and make clear Congressional intent for funding
these programs in upcoming decisions.

We know that foreign assistance works. US global health programs have long
saved millions of lives and promoted stability worldwide. They also
protect Americans and reduce the threat of emerging diseases reaching our
shores.

This is what makes the decision by the administration to terminate
programs that save and change lives all the more short-sighted. It’s clear
that this is a make-or-break moment for the US and the world.
