Legislative Update
As we reach the midpoint of the legislative session, I want to take a moment to update you on the progress we’ve made and the important conversations I’ve had with many of you. It has been a privilege to meet with constituents and stakeholders from all corners of our district. Your feedback continues to shape my work here at the Capitol, and I truly value the opportunity to hear your concerns and ideas.
In recent weeks, I’ve had productive discussions with local leaders, small business owners, and educators, all of whom play a vital role in making our community strong. From addressing issues in agriculture to finding solutions for our schools, these conversations help guide my decisions on the important legislation before us. I’d like to share some of these meetings below!
Meetings and Events
Minnesota Frost
Last Monday, I had the privilege to meet with the reigning champions of the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) – the Minnesota Frost. It’s always an honor to meet athletes who’ve dedicated so much of their lives to the pursuit of perfection.
Princeton Leaders and Residents
Also on Monday, I sat down to speak with residents from Princeton who wanted to discuss their concerns about mining practices in Northern Minnesota and their effects on the Boundary Waters. These concerned citizens shared firsthand experience on the importance of protecting our waters and the natural environment. I appreciated their willingness to share their thoughts.
Princeton Study Group
On Tuesday night, I met with Princeton study group where we discussed how the legislature can support them in meeting the financial needs of their district. Due to budget constraints, the study group is looking into proposing a levy that would cover operating and capital expenses.
Minnesota Association of School Administrators
Additionally, I met with Dan Voce from the Minnesota Association of School Administrators (MASA). He is a former teacher and current Superintendent in Mora, MN. We discussed the challenges facing our rural schools, especially around funding and how we can ensure they have what they need to continue preparing our children for the future.

Minnesota Turf Association
Thursday, I attended the Minnesota Turf Grower's Association annual meeting. I met with members and learned more about how current regulations are impacting the sod farming industry and their concerns surrounding the future PFML and Earned Sick and Save Time (ESST) rollout. We also discussed the potential sod farm checkoff dollars pending vote and how that will affect the industry if it does pass. These fees could be used to fund research and education initiatives that could benefit the industry in the future.
