| Victory for the Puyallup River |
| In a win for Washington Tribes, a judge sided with us and ordered a dam removed from Washington’s Puyallup River, which had been harming Chinook salmon, steelhead, and trout for nearly 100 years. In September our partners, the Puyallup Tribe, saw the results of our collective work as the dam came down. Fish passage on the upper Puyallup River is now unimpeded, and the river is flowing naturally for the first time in more than a century. |

| Electrification Advances in Colorado |
| At the state and local levels, we continue to make significant progress toward our goal of electrifying everything and hooking it up to clean energy. A key opponent in this effort remains gas-only utilities. In Colorado, based on the recommendations of our clients, the Public Utilities Commission decided to require a gas-only utility to support electrification for all of its customers — one of the first times such a decision has been made. Now customers of the second-largest gas utility in Colorado will have easier access to efficient electric heat pumps to replace gas furnaces and water heaters. In California, Long Beach — one of the most polluted places in the U.S. — became the second California city to commit to electrifying its garbage trucks. |

| Saving Montana’s Arctic grayling |
| Within the lower 48 United States, the Arctic grayling fish survives only in segments of Montana’s Upper Missouri River Basin. That population is in peril. Reliant on cold, freshwater streams, Montana’s grayling faces a variety of threats, including habitat degradation, warming stream temperatures, and irrigation that reduces river flow. Yet, the Fish and Wildlife Service has denied Montana’s grayling Endangered Species Act protections. We sued, and after a decision in our favor, the service must reassess its decision, giving the grayling a better chance at survival. |

| California Community Defeats a Dirty Warehouse Plan |
| A 213-acre warehouse project proposed in San Bernardino County, California, would have added nearly 1,300 diesel truck trips per day through a predominantly working-class Latino community in what’s already referred to as a “diesel death zone." We challenged the project in partnership with residents and community groups. In September, a judge ruled in our favor: the county must redo its faulty environmental impact analysis and provide a plan for reducing air pollution in communities hardest hit by lung-damaging diesel exhaust before the warehouse development can move forward. |
