Happy Earth Month!
Over the last few weeks, the Trump administration has frozen federal funding for climate initiatives and signed multiple executive orders with far-reaching consequences for the environment.
Yet, there’s a lot we can do to take action locally, as 350 Chicago ramps up the fight to divest Illinois from fossil fuels, fight utility corruption, and advocate for clean energy in Illinois. Can you help us to keep up the momentum with a gift today?
This Earth Month, we’re raising money to support the following critical initiatives:
We’ve formed the Climate Safe Pensions Illinois Coalition with Third Act Illinois and Climate Reality Project Chicago to divest the state pensions from fossil fuel assets, helping to protect pensioners from losses as Illinois transitions to clean energy. We have built the coalition to 26 endorsing groups across Illinois thus far.
We’ve joined the Citizens Utility Board to fight for Utility Accountability in Illinois. The Utility Transparency Act would protect ratepayers from being charged for Investor Owned Utilities’ lobbying expenses, saving ratepayers up to $40M.
We’re working with the Illinois Clean Jobs Coalition to develop clean energy policies in Illinois for clean and healthy buildings, clean and equitable transportation and a clean and reliable grid.
